Temple. My patience was tested while reading Ned Bauman’s novel titled,
Madness Is Better Than Defeat. Set in remote Honduras, two expeditions have arrived at a temple site with divergent purposes: one to shoot a movie, the other to dismantle the temple and send it to New York City. Speckled with humor followed by seriousness, I found this odd novel a bit disturbing to read. Questions about intentions and reality can become confusing, and at about the halfway point, I was ambivalent about how events would play out. Read a sample before tackling all four hundred odd pages.
Rating: Three-star (It’s ok)
