Language. What I liked most about Jack Handey’s The Stench of Honolulu: A Tropical Adventure, is the way in which he twists a sentence in one direction at the beginning, then veers in a very different direction to end the sentence. Sometimes I felt as if he were filling in the blanks of Mad-Libs. Handey’s humor appeals most to those of us who enjoy the playful use of language. Handey may be an acquired taste, but for any reader who liked his Deep Thoughts segment from SNL, this book will provide a lot of reading pleasure. If you’ve not been a fan, read a sample before you jump in.
Rating: Four-star (I like it)
