Deprecating. The satire I’ve enjoyed in reading Gary Shteyngart’s novels has turned to self-deprecation in his memoir,
Little Failure. I found that after reading a chapter, I didn’t want to read the next one. In small doses, Shteyngart’s wit comes across as clever and entertaining. I learned that too much of a good thing can become boring. What kept me reading and what pushed me past boredom is Shteyngart’s fine writing. He crafts great sentences that kept me turning the pages.
Rating: Three-star (It’s ok)
