Herken takes readers to the neighborhood of Georgetown in Washington, D.C., and presents a cast of characters who lived in that neighborhood and formed or influenced major public policies. While there are lots of characters presented, it seemed to me that two individuals dominated the narrative: journalists Joseph and Stewart Alsop.
