Adversaries. The latest Clive Cussler series novel featuring detective Isaac Bell is titled,
The Gangster. Set in New York at the beginning of the twentieth century, the novel pits the Black Hand against the Van Dorn Detective Agency. These formulaic novels provide entertainment to those readers who enjoy the predictability of the good guys defeating all adversaries. The action in this novel proceeds more slowly than others in the series, and the ending seemed more abrupt than I expected. For consistent, reliable historical crime fiction, consider reading this novel and this series.
