Charlatans
Fake. The protagonist of Robin Cook’s novel, Charlatans, is one of those characters to whom readers want to shout some warning as he is about to do something stupid again. Noah Rothauser may be a smart chief resident but he become clueless and gullible so often, it became something of a distraction to the thrilling plot of the novel. As the title indicates, Cook is exploring fakery in this novel, and he does this in ways that seem pulled from the headlines. This is a quick novel to read, and it will entertain those readers who like thrillers and can overlook some problems in plot and character development.
Rating: Three-star (It’s ok)
