Cogent. Former Secretary of Labor Robert B. Reich has written a short book titled, The Common Good. Instead of engaging in the latest form of partisan finger pointing, Reich calls for us to consider how the common good is a fundamental element of our society that has been eroding. Reich chronicles the key actions by a variety of individuals and groups that have moved norms of behavior from a focus on “we” to an exclusive focus on “me.” He reminds us about something important that we are veering away from by our own practices and what we are willing to tolerate from others.
