Smile. I defy a reader to read four or five of Billy Collins’ poems and not come away smiling. There are fifty-six witty poems in his new collection titled, The Rain in Portugal. Collins admits he’s not a good rhymer, hence the rain in Portugal, not Spain. Readers who think they don’t like poetry may read a few Collins poems and change that view. Collins takes the ordinary, delivers a few finely written lines, and gives a reader delight.
Rating: Four-star (I like it)
