A Passage North

Trauma. In his novel titled, A Passage North, Anuk Arudpragsam explores life in Sri Lanka after three decades of civil war. Through finely written prose we are absorbed into the atmosphere of the setting, influenced by the trauma and suffering of the characters, and see everyday life transformed. One aspect of this novel comes across as a love song to people and places, while another reveals grief for what those people and places have experienced.
