Dogfight: The 2012 Presidential Campaign in Verse
Waggery. Political junkies of all persuasions will find a laugh or two when reading Calvin Trillin’s Dogfight: The 2012 Presidential Campaign in Verse. I prefer Trillin’s prose over his poetry, but found a few laughs in this short book. The account of Callista Gingrich’s cough is the best of the lot, in my opinion. There’s more content on the Republican side, given the primary contest, but Trillin pokes some merry wit at Obama as well. Readers who have the courage to revisit the 2012 campaign and can do it with the intention of laughing are those most likely to enjoy this book.
Rating: Three-star (Recommended)
