Terminal Boredom
Surreal. Fans of speculative fiction are those readers most likely to enjoy the seven science fiction short stories in a collection titled, Terminal Boredom, by the late Izumi Suzuki. These stories have only recently been translated into English, and most readers may be surprised that they were written four and five decades ago. Suzuki marvels at how we respond to all the weird things that happen. Within the darkness of her stories there’s a resilience or response that makes the dystopia somewhat irrelevant, or perhaps normal.
Rating: Four-star (I like it)
