Motivation. The eighteenth novel in the Inspector Ian Rutledge series by Charles Todd is titled,
No Shred of Evidence. Fans of crime fiction may become impatient with the slow plot momentum. Fans of Rutledge will enjoy the ways in which he deploys his skills. Patient readers will be rewarded with a finely written police procedural that explores motivation from multiple aspects. I became so accustomed to the moderate pace that it came as a surprise when all the pieces came together.
